This class is designed to make you a better designer and engineer by helping you solve open-ended engineering problems in a systematic manner. It is a capstone class in which you will take the knowledge of your "analysis" classes and apply them in the creation of something new. Part of this class will be devoted to learning the techniques of deterministic design. A simple way to think of deterministic design is that it is the opposite of "hacking." There a lot of people who have good ideas, but a good engineer is someone who can take those ideas and use fundamental principles (that "stuff" you have been learning for the past 3 1/2 years) to create good products. The other part of this class will be devoted to the design process itself and especially the product design process.
